Olga Dmitrieva took part in the Round Table «Topical issues of arrangement of providing of legal assistance»

On invitation of Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) Director of the Law Firm «Dmitrieva & Partners», President of the Ukrainian Non-Governmental Organization «Association of Advocates of Ukraine» (UAA) Olga Dmitrieva took part in the round table, organized by the UBA on the subject: «Topical issues of arrangement of providing of legal assistance» that took a place on May 18, 2010 at the Hotel «Dnepr», Kiev. A measure took a place within the first all-Ukrainian day of free legal assistance – 2010.

Attorney-at-law Lesya Burchak, Director of the Center of legal reform and bill works of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine Valentina Subotenko, Head of Kiev City Qualification--Disciplinary Bar Commission Inna Rafalskaya, Member of the Board of the Association of Advocates’ of Ukraine, Head of Kiev City branch of the AAU Valentin Gvozdiy and Executive director of MBF «Fund of legal clinics of Ukraine» Vladimir Sventitskiy and other lawyers and attorneys-at-law appeared as reporters, and representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, Authorized of Verkhovna Rada on human rights, deputies of Ukraine, representatives of the Association of Advocates’ of Ukraine, Association of Bar of Ukraine, the Union of Advocates of Ukraine, Kiev City and Kiev Region Qualification-Disciplinary Bar Commissions, attorneys-at-law were also invited to participate in the round table.

The discussion passed in lively and very interesting format. The participants of the round table discussed the bill «On free legal assistance», which was prepared by the Government of Ukraine and approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine as basic in the first reading. Such important questions as providing of free legal assistance by attorneys-at-law, including disagreements which are however contained in the said bill.
